Action required: eMUDHRA certificate compromise

Madrid, Spain – October 22, 2026 – Several certificates belonging to a certificate authority, eMudhra, have been compromised. This puts the security of communications at risk across the entire Internet.

What happened?

The private keys of these certificates have been exposed. An attacker could use them to issue certificates that systems would accept as valid. With those certificates, they could intercept encrypted (TLS) connections that appear to be secure.

The issue affects all operating systems, browsers, IoT devices and any other software that trusts this authority. Major vendors are releasing urgent updates to remove the compromised certificates.

How does this affect me?

N3uron Links are not affected, because they do not rely on a public certificate authority.

Other secure (TLS) connections that do rely on public certificate authorities may be affected. Nodes that use these connections, especially over the Internet or other networks you do not fully control, should be upgraded first.

Our response

We have already applied urgent patches to all our infrastructure and services, including Fleet Manager, to protect our customers.

We have also released two new versions of N3uron:

  • N3uron 1.22.7
  • N3uron 1.21.18
Both releases remove the compromised eMudhra intermediate CA certificates from the list of trusted certificates, so fraudulent TLS certificates issued with them will no longer be accepted. In addition, N3uron 1.22.7 updates the Node.js runtime to version 22.23.4, which includes all of the October Node.js security patches.

Action required

We recommend upgrading your N3uron nodes as soon as possible:

  • Nodes on the 1.22 branch: upgrade to 1.22.7.
  • Nodes on the 1.21 branch: upgrade to 1.21.18.

Also apply all available updates to your operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.) and browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.).
